Augur

Augurs are the rulers of the Augury, a human-run empire. There are 3 of these individuals at any given time and they never leave Saint's Maar. Known to receive visions and guidance from Chaimut, they stop problems for the empire before they ever happen. They use their visions to select their replacements (those with skill in the magic art of augury).
Kicking off the events of the Silence, the three Augurs were assassinated before they had identified their replacements (whether or not this was a political ploy or they truly hadn't seen the vision is unknown). This plunged the realm into chaos and paranoia years after the Silence had ended, though Arniel Kane had purely used the effects to distract the Augury and prevent them from knowing his plans.
