Hailen Ryr (Hey-Linn Rire)
The Hailen Ryr is a beast of history, a living legend. Upon reaching the summit of the Ghei Wyl mountains, a small troop of exploring pioneers found a cave. Within the cave was a slumbering beast. Their presence awoke this serpentine beast.
Upon its chaotic exit from its abode, the beast blotted out the sun. It slid down the mountain on its stomach, with a dozen razer-ended tails slashing at the rocks, cutting into them like water. Its skin was that of chitin and it had a long series of eyes all the way down its body, looking into the windows of the homes it slid between. Its mouth had no lips, but rows and rows of gnashing teeth. Some say it looked somewhat like a caterpillar, others reference wyrms of human myth. Its wail was enough to vibrate waters that were leagues away. When it crashed to the ground, destroying every home in its path, it slithered north. It left a trail of dust in its wake, making Ghei Wyl near uninhabitable.
What this creature truly was is unknown, but no one has returned to its keep at the top of the mountains since. It could have been a god or perhaps frightened megafauna. Its body, living or dead, has not been recovered. The Hailen Ryr is still feared. Stories of its return keep children inside at night and keep guards on edge.
What about constructs?
While it existed alongside the constructs or 'mystics,' the Hailen Ryr was not one such. They likely never crossed paths based on the geography and positioning of the creatures at the time. Further, the Ryr is recorded as looking far more biological, which has led some to believe it could be similar to J'bar, the human/J'barri god of egoism. J'bar was a god that walked in a mortal shell as well, so the idea is not unthinkable.
As unlikely as it may seem, the existence of the Hailen Ryr is put under more scrutiny than that of constructs. More evidence of constructs exists today and there are few living elves that existed during the exodus of Ghei Wyl. King Vhou Riyael, for example, was alive during the exodus. He staunchly believes that the Ryr did exist, but admits that he never saw it. While he experienced the hysteria and saw clouds of dust and rumbling shrieks, living in the outer reaches of Ghei Wyl prevented the crossing of paths.
