Huereina (where-in-nuh)

God of Winter

In Scripture

Huereina is the sister of Fei Invaru and daughter of Chaimut. As Chaimut was a domineering and cruel god during the pinnacle of his influence, Huereina would be birthed from his cruelty. While Fei Invaru and Chaimut imprisoned Rel Eteisus, Fei removed him from his bonds to show him the beauty of Laminarum. While she hoped it would make her son find a semblance of love in his heart, he used the opportunity to escape. Enraged, Chaimut punished his Fei by bringing death and stasis to her domain of nature and bloom. Through this punishmen, Huereina was born.    As the god of winter, Huereina represents a necessary end to all things good. Huereina herself is not as cruel as her father, and her stories center around her isolation in lands of the dead and frozen. In her desire to find love, she reaches out to her sister but this always results in harm to Fei. In the end, Huereina must always return to her isolation so humanity can have the bloom they need to survive.

In Worship

Huereina and Fei Invaru are typically worshipped in tandem. Huereina, however, is hardly followed in northern regions such as Fjordstrond. Given they live without seasons, her teachings make little sense and they see no reason for winter to end, as they have adapted well to their environment.    In more volatile environments, citizens may pray to Huereina in hopes of a shorter winter. Blizzards and deadly temperatures are typically attributed to her feelings of isolation and it is believed that praying will give her the consolation she needs for the storms to end.
