Thalis Avaloth (Thay-liss Av-oh-loth)
Devil of Vengeance
Thalis Avaloth, devil of vengeance, is one of the eight Inutherin. Locked in a tireless path of revenge against Milin Orphi, his desires were able to be turned against the Ohdaufeen and their creations.
Stories of Thalis Avaloth focus on both his ability to change and the impact of revenge on the soul.
In Scripture
The most popular tale, as with any of the Inutherin, is how he was crowned. Originally lacking a domain, he wished to serve Milin Orphi in a unique way that other Ithitar could not. His goal became to find the Well of Heien, as the Ofjuren had once before. Confiding in Milin Orphi with his desire, the devil of depravity said they could seek the well together, both going to different areas to search. Milin Orphi, detesting the well for empowering the Ohdaufeen, despised the thought of his kin benefiting from it. In Thalis's absence, Orphi slew his firstborn son and hid his daughter away, never giving any answers as to where she was. When Avaloth returned from the era-spanning ghost hunt, he found Orphi's deception. He swore revenge and the destruction of Orphi and would do anything to meet that end. Unknown to Avaloth, Orphi had intended for this to occur and crowned the devil as an Inutherin when the desire for vengeance fully corrupted his soul. Thalis gladly accepted the crowning, "hiding" his true desire for revenge while eternally searching for the well under Orphi's nose. It is said that the day Thalis discovers the well will be the day that Milin Orphi drowns its light. Other tales depict the path of destruction Thalis carves in the name of revenge against Orphi, or smaller stories about revenge against specific Ohdaufeen or mortals. In Worship
Day-to-day worshippers of Avoloth tend to worship in private, never forming larger groups for the rejection of community that the god shows. Worship of this devil usually sprouts from feelings of hopelessness or betrayal from the gods. Further, many that follow Avoloth believe him to be a reason for Epithet's fall, given his oath was vengeance. Though this has not been confirmed, many follow the two beings in tandem.
