Founding of Astania

Founding

The formation of Astania and beginning of the Astani family after the Longwoods claimed the land that Hamish Troutlung had long promised them. Astania, in the future, would become Eldurgrund.

After Elrich I had taken a deal with Hamish, and his banished crew of riders would serve as "professional" robbers to dissuade explorers from going to the Icelands, he would have a son. Elrich II of the Longwood family would continue the tradition of robbing explorers, splitting the loot with Shellbay officials. However, at a relatively young age he broke a bone during an altercation, preventing him from continuing. Surprisingly, even with Hamish gone, the new Saltkrigere general upheld the deal (giving them land and independence from Shellbay for their services). With this, they would soon allow travel north as well, since Hamish's feud with the Lograttes was over.   Elrich II would bring many of his men far out West, but Iketta Skaldson became enthralled with him during the Shellbay visit. She and several others would come with him to the new lands, seeking adventure. Elrich II and Iketta would quickly marry before naming their new lands Astania (named after Iketta's mother). Wanting to cast off the history of thievery, Elrich would change his name to Elrich Astani.   The Skaldsons would later declare the independence of Fjordstrond, so the matrimony between Iketta and Elrich would unknowingly be the start of a strong alliance.
