Raymond Bramford

Raymond trained as an accountant. He spent some time working for different trading companies, including the Lionshield Coster (who his father worked for as a caravan master). While working for them he realised how poorly treated their workers were, especially compared to how much profit the company made. His father was thrown from his horse in a freak accident and shattered his lower spine, leaving him unable to walk. He lost his job, and sickened by the Lionshield Coster's disregard for his father, Raymond started to trade goods himself in order to make enough coin to take care of his parents.
He used some of the information he had gleaned from the Lionshield Coster's books to undercut their trading routes for a while, making some good coin, and employing Oghar as a caravan guard. However, when he was resting in a tavern in Triboar, Oghar overheard a group of mercenaries talking about a contract they had picked up from the Lionshield Coster to waylay and kill a young merchant who matched Raymond's description.
Fearing for their lives as they travelled back to Neverwinter, Raymond persuaded Oghar that they should camp a distance off the road, in the foothills. During the night they were ambushed by a Verani patrol. They were captured and Oghar was seriously wounded.

Raymond is a human trader, initially based in Pernor.  Initially he seemed greedy and cowardly; but after travelling for a while with him the party learned that he is desperately trying to set up enough of a trading company to take care of his parents after his father was thrown from his horse, severely injured and left unable to work.
