Untitled letter to Carden Grimm

This letter was written on the night that the faction leader of the Exalted Sky, Nero Bolvekier, received a prophecy from the heavens that the birth of Arianna Alwyn would save the Holy Light from destruction. With the war against the Sword Bearing faction becoming more dire by the passing day, Nero decided that he had to take action against the current situation. He decided, with the knowledge he just received, that the best course of action was to purposefully lose the war and focus on rebuilding with the soon to be born Archbishop. Nero secretly contacted Carden Grimm, the leader of the Hidden Knife, and hired him to assassinate the current Archbishop, Josiah Riordan.
When Grimm received this letter, he was surprised as he was working for Riordan at the time, and he was about to accept another job from him, to assassinate the head of the Festering Steel. He imagined that he would receive an offer to assassinate the head of either the Sword Bearing or the Holy Light eventually but always thought that it would happen later in the war. Thankfully, the job was to take place three years later on a specific date. In the meantime, he was glad to continue to take jobs from Riordan.

Purpose

This letter was sent the night that Nero Bolvekier received a prophecy from God saying that a child that was soon to be born would become the next Archbishop and rescue the Holy Light faction from destruction. In it is detailed a plan that would eventually lead to the death of the current Archbishop and end the war between the Holy Light and the Sword Bearing factions.

Publication Status

This is an entirely secret letter only three people know of its existence and only two know its contents. If this message were to become known, it would likely start a civil war within the Holy Light.

Historical Details

History

It effectively ended the last major war between the Five Great Factions and cemented the victory of the Sword Bearing faction. The factions had been warring for approximately 10 years, with the date of the assassination to take place three years in the future. By the time war ended, it would have continued for 15 years total. After the war, the factions have been at an uneasy but successful peace. Nobody knows of this letter and can only speculate to the reason that the Hidden Knife betrayed the Holy Light.
