Era beginning/end

There are many myths and legends about the time before the mortal races emerged. Through them, certain elements of unquestionable historical fact have emerged.   Millions of years ago, the planet now called Erdos was ruled by the Aboleths. Their Aboleth Empire spanned the entire globe, though the center of their power was the depths of the oceans themselves.   The aboleths are known to be creatures hailing from the Far Outside. When they arrived to colonize this planet, very little life as we know had evolved on its surface. But as the ages rolled on and the aboleths spread on this world and beyond, multicellular organisms much similar to modern life emerged.   It was then that the gods finally took notice of this world. They knew that in time, the planet would be a host to sentient creatures capable of worship.   The aboleths had to be removed.   To facilitate that, the gods created titan creatures capable of dominating the depths of the sea: the Krakens. These beasts of divine invention struck at the aboleth empire and eventually managed to topple it and dismantle it.   The krakens themselves, nearly godlike in their own right, broke free of divine control and roamed for their unkowable purposes, occassionally emerging to wreak havok of epic proportions to whatever happless civilization was in their path.
