Introduction

The Flusstorm Empire was the most powerful centralized state in the Ostalpen area for all of the Before Catastrophy Era. The Capital of this Empire was the port city of Riggenbach, the most populated of the empire and the 2nd biggest in all of BCE Ostalpen.

History

The Empire was founded in 412 BCE, when the tribes of lower Flodd united to repel the invasions of the Republic of Sarussia, their main rival to the West. The Empire was ruled by an absolute monarch, originally elected by the tribes that united to form the Empire, but after 215 BCE (when the disastrous and ultimately useless Sarussian-Flusstorm 5 years war ended) it is usually accepted that the monarchy became more hereditary. The Empire met it's fate following the Ferom Disaster's effects on the Ostalpen agricultural scene.

Trade History

While their population fluctuated through time, it never reached more than a million, and it was at around 700k in the least prosperous times of the empire, usually brought by bad crop seasons or decreased trade. Infact, trade was the main wealth-bringer of the Flusstorm Empire, and it is a well known fact that the Empire traded with all bordering countries via land, and that it also had some naval trade routes to trade with the Trade Empire in the North and the East Ostalpen states in the East.
