Introduction

Khargald Island is an island located on the northern coast of Norland, belonging to Norland. Administered by their own provincial government, Khargald provides a seaport in use by Norlandian officials alike for the main purpose of international as well as domestic trade. Furthermore, the island extends Norlandian territorial sea claims further into the northern seas and oceans. Located on the southeastern tip of the island, is the city of Khorta, the most industrially developed city on the island.

History

Khargald was first dwelled by humans thousands of years ago, who were discovered to have formed one of the first trading routes in the world. During the early 17th century BCE onto the 4th century BCE, multiple civilizations established both a trading post and a fort on the island after securing perpetual ownership of the island. All of these exchanges of control over the island would end during the beginning of the 2nd century BCE, when hints of the first independent governments took control over Khargald and its resources. The island was then occupied by the Norlandians on the year of 1838 on an attempt to take hold of Khargald's rich natural resources.

Khargald's history for oil and gas

Considered to be one of the world's largest offshore crude oil terminals and the principal sea terminal for Norlandian oil, the Khargald Island facilities were put on commission in the fall of 1976. Heavy weather struck Khargald facilities for years and nearly bankrupted the norlandian association for oil production (NAFOP) but was refunded by the government. Khargald Island is situated in the middle of the Sogun Oilfield, also damaged by the intensive weather. Repair to all facilities has been very slow, even after the massive refunding done by previous governments.
