The Natoriuk Civil war was a devastating conflict fought in the small but long-lasting state of Natoriuk in the Ugol region of the Northern Peninsula. Fueled by the anger of the people, the government of Crni Poljes officially declared revolutionary independence in the spring of 1861 ADE. The First Battle of Poljagrad would end in a horrific defeat for the NNPA. The "peacekeeping" force of 250 was reduced to 117 by the end of the day, having been subject to a large ambush in the middle of the city. The Liberation Army of Crni Poljes (LACP) reported no casualties on their side, giving Crni Poljes a victory in morale and strategically. This battle would mark the start of the war.

The conflict would go on for 3 years, with 3 additional years of guerilla fighting and riots continuing after the loss of the revolutionary army and the eventual re-instatement of the Pre war government.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS IN THE WAR

PRE-WAR: Spring 1861: After months of protests and violence (due to the crisis between the NNPA and the Government), Crni Poljes declare a secession from the government of Natoriuk. The Declaration of Independence states:
"The government has undertaken an act of violence and brutality against innocent people. We will not stand for such a tyrannical entity. Instead we will stand against this madness. Together as one large family of farmers, peasants and workers alike."
October 7th, 1861: Pedrovic, after several warnings, marches an army to the capital of Crni Poljes (Poljagrad). When the army walks in, they are greeted with a barage of gunfire from the buildings. Severe casualties are reported back to Pedrovic, who declared a state of emergency.
"The men of Crni Poljes have attacked a peacekeeping force. This calls for a complete annihilation of their government and livelyhood! No more can a peaceful resolution be found."
-Pedrovic, October 19th, 1861

START OF THE CIVIL WAR

January 1862: Pedrovic order an army of 2000 men to capture areas in the northern river area of Crni Poljes. Another army of 2500 would invade from the south. These army would face harrassment by locals along the way, until they finally reached the borders, and were ready to invade.   February 2nd, 1862: The Battle of Rechna Luka (a small port town in northern CP) ends in a devastating defeat for the much smaller and less trained LACP army of about 750 men. The Northern and Southern group of the NNPA continue to wreak havoc on the LACP. However the numbers dwindle for the NNPA, and soon the Battle of Crvena Poljes begins on November 29th, 1862 Casualties: LACP: ~150 dead, ~325 wounded, ~75 captured NNPA: ~80 dead, ~190 wounded   November 29th 1862: a devastating battle took place in a field by the small town of Tsarina in Southern Natoriuk. The dwindiling army of now just 1200 men came to face with the LACP army of about 800. What followed next was the bloodiest day in Natoriuk history up until that point.   In the morning of that fateful day, the 2 armies encountered eachother in a field which would be nicknamed "Crvena Poljes" by the locals (Red Fields). Gunfire was heard from Tsarina as the 2 armies engaged in brutal combat, utilizing cannons and close range combat. The result was extraordinary casualties on both sides. By the end of the day, the LACP army was reduced to 250 men, and the NNPA? Just 130 men remained.   The battle of Cverna Poljes was thought to be the most important event of the war.   The Southern campaign was abandoned for the next couple of months, and faith in the LACP was restored.   March 1863 : A new order was given to abandon most rural areas, and only seek shelter in large cities. During the retreat, guerilla fighters inflicted small casualties to both the Northern and Southern army   July 1863: Crni Poljes territory is reduced to the northern coast and the river, along with areas connecting the 2.   July 4th, 1863: Battle of Lukagrad (city to the right of the capital which is Poljagrad) begins. After a bit of fighting on the outskirts, it becomes a siege, as the NNPA dare not to repeat the same mistakes they encountered in Poljagrad only 2 years earlier. The siege lasts for months.   Fall 1863: Several more cities are sieged, however the NNPA does not want to repeat the same mistake they did in 1861, giving the LACP ample time to prepare defenses. Its at this time that in Poljagrad, the first gatling gun is developed, and send to Lukagrad and other cities via sea/river.   November 30th, 1863: After many month of being sieged, Lukagrad finally falls to NNPA forces. The city is reduced to rubble. Finally the big advance to Poljagrad begins... Casualties of the Lukagrad Siege LACP: ~350/1000 dead, rest captured/wounded NNPA: ~390/1800 dead, 700 wounded   December 7th, 1863: Natoriuk forces surround Poljagrad. The siege begins. The president refuses to evacuate from the city, stating:
"If the city falls, then so will I go with it, and all of these fellow soldiers"
He is honored as a national hero across the rest of the states, and especially in the surviving parts of Crni Poljes and Poljagrad   December 24th, 1863, approx. 11:30pm: The president reads...
"The intruder has made it close to the inner parts of our city. We are on the final moments. We will make them suffer for every inch of land taken. We will not fall without a fight! If we are to die, we are to die with honor, and dignity. May everyone enjoy this Christmas, and remember to gift the enemy one hell of a fight"
At that moment, gunfire breaks out, the final stand begins. Merely 2 hours later, the president is reportedly captured. His entire army has been wiped off the face of the earth, and Poljagrad falls.   January 1st, 1864: President Markov Slobodic is publicly executed in the middle of Strodinare City via beheading. Pedrovic has this to say as his last words:
"It is with my full heart, that I honor those brave fools who dare challenge the might of the NNPA. This is an example of what happens to those who are suicidal enough to attempt such a daring quest."
January 10th, 1864: A new president is elected to lead Crni Poljes. He gathers the rest of his army and desides to abandon all fronts except the coastal cities. Meanwhile Tsoilensk and Kinolevic (that have declared their allegiance to Crni Poljes's War) start pushing deeper into occupied territory. Soon the front mostly evens out on the river.   January 14th, 2022: Tomislavansk offers military access to Kinolevic to aid them in their war efforts.   January 16th, 2022: After using spy hot air balloons, Pedrovic quickly realises whats happening after he spots an army in Tomislavansk. He immediately orders a 5000 strong force to enter the province.   February 7th, 1864: Havoc has fallen on Tomislavansk, with many towns East of the river being scorched and looted, along with mass killings of civilians. At this point, Strodinare City bursts at the seams, and a new political force known as the Natoriuk Peoples Liberation Army (NPLA) is in full swing after having robbed an armory on the outskirts of the city. With this they storm important buildings, and eventually a large force of 1000 protestors and 250 armed NPLA arrive at the Head of State Palace, demanding Pedrovic resign. He refuses however and cannons are placed outside of the house to deter any advances. The states wait in fear as to how this will play out.   February 14th, 1864: An assault is finally launched on the palace. Cannons fire on protestors, sending bodies and debris flying. The NNPA is able to hold off for some time, but soon the small elite force of soldiers are not able to destroy the larger force. Pedrovic is captures by the NPLA. 250 civilians were killed in the battle, with 27 NPLA killed, and 54/100 NNPA killed, the rest captured.   March 17th, 1864: Battles rage on in Tomislavansk and Crni Poljes. However finally, Pedrovic is revealed to the public by a gang of NPLA. He is severely beaten, and then put on a guillotine. Pedrovic Markov dies at age 54, by beheading on March 17th, 1864. The leader of the NPLA, Nikola Bogdanic, repeats his words in an eerie speech after the public execution.
"This, is what happens to poor fools who dare challenge the rights of the Natoriuk people."
Spring 1864: Fighting slows down across the nation, and soon stop completely. The former government is dissolved, and the NPLA takes control; with Nikola as Head of State. However Nikola has no interest in returning things to pre-war conditions. Instead he restricts many liberties of the people, and declares himself ruler of the Natoriuk Empire.
