King Wilhelm the Mighty

His Majesty Wilhelm Guldskrang

Stern, strong and wise - those words describe King Wilhelm the Mighty, Hettaller of Erynland.  Latest in a long line of kings from the Guldskrang clan, he may end up being the last to sit upon Erynland's throne.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Wilhelm was the oldest child of his father, King Halfdan. While his ascension was not guaranteed (Hettallers are selected by the Talleradit), the Erynland Guldskrangs, which are distant cousins of the dwarf kings under the mountain, have always been selected to date.   Wilhelm's childhood was uneventful. He came to the throne at 28, an early age for a dwarf. He married his wife Astrid Vindskrang and had one daughter, Mathilda before his wife passed away.   His reign has been relatively peaceful, marred only by the "Squall of Swords" when a company of Tempest Knights of Erynland crossed into the disputed areas of Carador.  While there is no direct evidence that Wilhelm had a hand in the military action, neither did he immediately do anything to hinder it, calling it "an internal religious matter for Carador."    However, when the conflict claimed the life of the famous Red Prince Edduard, younger brother to then-King Onfroi II of Carador, King Wilhelm ordered his own Ernritter to engage with the Tempest Knights and forcefully bring them back to Erynland under heavy guard.  The Temple of Skeinor In Falkenburg was fined heavily and royal tithes to the God of Change halted for 5 years.  Wilhelm paid the cost of reparations from his own purse, which was steep.   Recently, his daughter has come of age, and suitors are beginning to arrive at the Falkenschloss.  Thus far, Wilhelm has seemed cool to most offers of marriage for Mathilda; whether this is a strategy or he has someone in mind is anyone's guess.

Social

Religious Views

King Wilhelm outwardly patronizes the godling Kevastis the Maker, but like most Erynlanders, also worships Skeinor, the Lord of Change, although his tithes to this church have been sparse in recent years.

Hobbies & Pets

While unusual for a Dwarf, King Wilhelm has always enjoyed riding horses and owns a stable of fine sturdy short-legged horses and ponies.  He meticulously tracks breeding lines for the horses in his stable, and often participates in training his horses.   King Wilhelm also enjoys falconry, a sport that he shares with his daughter.
