Molghö

This article is a work in progress!

Requirements

The Molghö title is passed down from a parent to their first child. Were it that the child is below the age of twelve at the time of the Molghö's passing, the position is temporally vacant, with most of its responsibilities and privileges awarded to their spouse. If the heir is orphaned before their of age, the R'sgo Council will take on the Molghö duties until their twelfth birthday. In the event that a Molghö dies before they've produced an heir, the position will be passed onto their eldest sibling. If no siblings are available the R'sgo Council will work to appoint a new Molghö. Relatives such as cousins or siblings of parents have priority in these considerations, though respected Mör'so are in the running as well. Rules for succession are detailed in the Yurka.

Appointment

Officially, the position was appointed by the R'sgo Council, though this supposed authority only really came into play in times of uncertain lineage or lack of royal children. The second Molghö, Godir Chapal Poda, instituted a ritual intended to emulate the suffering of Ibir before her execution. The process entailed making a deep vertical cut across the chest followed by a two week starvation period, culminating in a walk through a burning field of straw. Godir underwent the procedure himself. The ritual has only resulted in one death—that of Nodir Ghul Khachim. She passed due to an infection in the wound on her chest, leaving no heir in her place. The twelfth Molghö, Yigo Bikdu Ghul would make significant changes to the ritual, softening it and applying a more metaphorical approach—a two week fast, a smaller, shallower cut, and the lighting of a torch.

Duties

The Molghö must embody strenght, endurance, and conviction. They are expected to be visible and present in the nation, not to hide away in their estates.

Responsibilities

The Molghö's main responsibilities were to nominate members of the R'sgo Council, propose legislation, oversee Mör'so operations, command the army, receive foreign ambassadors, and performance ceremonial public rituals.

Benefits

The Molghö had near absolute political power during most of the Möniq Empire's history. In addition, they had ownership over all individuals within the empire, meaning every citizen owed their life, body, and service to them. They had access to extreme wealth and luxury.
