Despite being renowned as the stalwart historical allies of the Winged Folk of Yslana, the shy and eagle like creatures with griffon beaks they tend to live in relatively small isolated tribal villages sprawling up the icy peaks, volcanoes and other remote or inaccessible places.
There they typically live in shamanic/pastoral societies that are notoriously harmonious and fair, while keeping a detached neutral political stance from everything that doesn’t directly affect their way of life, their allies or the safety of the legendary floating islands called Yslana. Which intrigues some scholars...
This specific and rather mysterious drive received little to no attention from the sages and their scrolls across the Eons and Ages of Lantartia. The scarce information there is about such a connection to Yslana, consists mostly of rumors involving their creation. Some historical information was found in the rare descriptive tomes that bothered to document the peaceful, merry ways of this people among other idyllic or remote communities. There are tales of them being widely engaged or deployed as spies or that they control spy guilds. But such information is far from clear cut or proved. In most of them the details don’t add up.
Of course that flight, small size, innate furtiveness and sharp clawed hands and feet, coupled with their very acute senses of vision and hearing give them clear advantages to become great scouts, spies or assassins. The lack of proofs kept such talk inside drunken tavern speeches.
