Hartenders

Good food, greater company, the best luck. This is the hartenders in a nutshell. Most of these 1m (3 - 4 feet) tall, hairy footed, fun loving, friendly individuals want nothing more than a cosy life with autonomy to take care of their legumes, grains and gardens inside their relatively isolated peaceful communities.
They are widely known for their hospitality and great cooking. Less so for their capacity to be furtive or valiant when that’s needed. And only specialists tend to have some knowledge of their innate serendipity and sheer bouts of obvious luck, which is in itself pretty fortunate for them as a whole.
They just happen to settle their villages in unpractical road routes that keep them away from the intrigue between empires, in particular non strategic places and often dwell near a non temperamental monster that keeps all others at bay. They don’t seem very open to discuss their luck or fate, as if they also weren’t particularly aware of it. They are typically the first to dismiss coincidences or acknowledge that something’s not quite right when happenings align in their favor.
More accurately, they seem to have a hard time realizing how not having a great day, everyday could be atypical or remarkable. Provided one has had the proper 9 meals a day, of course. And made the recommended pauses to contemplate each moment, even when it rains or snows. Or when it should be too hot, but, hey, at least you can always find someplace to swim, right? At least, they can.
