Vampires

A diversity of myths and legends explain “the first” vampire. If and how many of those have truth to them is still a heavily sought after answer in some scholarly circles. As such there’s no clear understanding if the differing powers, attitudes or even forms between vampires is due variations on breeds or individual traits. This naturally secretive race isn’t bent on clarifying it, maybe they don’t know it too.
All that’s been said about it is the concept of bleak emergence. It’s apparently a mystical marking that, based on the blood origin of the vampire lineage behind the individuals' transformation and how the soul was damaged when the living being was murdered. Both factors result in a pattern of which different vampiric traits will manifest during the course of a vampire’s eternal life.
These ranges from shapechanging, mental control, unnatural resistances and regeneration, monstrous appearance, uncanny physical capabilities and their folkloric known weaknesses like the thirst for blood, dreading the sunlight, silver sensitivity among others.
The only civilization they formed are the unified counties of Lisbrazzia, thanks for the channeled water of the Styx's affluents, since when the waters of this extraplanar river enter the material world, they change into blood. Today red flowing aqueducts shape and bolster the vampiric way of being deep into the blighted lands of Ygnandor.
Vampires tend to act in a collected way and in the last Eras of the world they did reach out to in merchantile or even technological exchanges with lands in other continents, but trusting them has been a slow endeavor. Almost as much as their immortal years sprawl into the future.
