Banders

The banders, a group of creatures representing the four elements - earth, fire, air, and water - are a breed of creatures that do not exist naturally in the world. Each bander embodies the essence of its element, displaying a mischievous and evil personality that delights in causing harm and chaos. To summon them, each ritual requires components unique to each element, rare and powerful components, and an evocation of an ancient and mysterious school of magic.   Each bander exhibits a penchant for mischief, reveling in causing fear, confusion, and chaos wherever they go. Their motives are not driven by loyalty to their summoners but by their enjoyment of inflicting harm. When provoked or threatened, the banders are formidable opponents, fiercely defending themselves with their elemental powers, leaving destruction in their wake.

The Banderhobb

The banderhobb is a creature with rough, green skin reminiscent of a toad, giving it an earthy and rugged appearance. Its body is compact and sturdy, making it easily navigate through terrains. Its stone topaz eyes glimmer with an eerie, almost hypnotic glow, allowing it to see invisible creatures and hidden targets.

Summoning Ritual

To bring forth a banderhobb, a summoner must perform a ritual involving fresh soil, snake blood, two large topaz, and water. These components are blended in a black cauldron, and an appeal is made to invite earth spirits to inhabit the banderhobb's form.

Behavior and Motives

Once summoned, the banderhobb is not loyal to its creator but derives pleasure from inflicting harm and chaos. It immediately seeks out its first target provided by the summoner and prowls for victims afterward. Whether or not it returns to its master depends on whether it found the hunt enjoyable.

Abilities

The banderhobb possesses a variety of abilities that make it a formidable and cunning opponent:
  • Shadow Stepping: It can step through shadows, moving seamlessly from one shadowy area to another, even if they are not connected by shadows, allowing it to ambush prey from unexpected angles. The banderhobb can hide within shadows and darkness of any size, making it nearly impossible to detect where it is hiding.
  • Psychic Tracking: It can psychically track its prey from miles away, sensing their location and movements through an innate connection to the earth's vibrations.
  • Long Tongue: The banderhobb boasts a long, agile tongue extending up to 30 feet, allowing it to snatch targets from a distance and draw them into its grasp.
  • Voracious Stomach: Its stomach can remarkably swallow creatures larger than itself whole.

Weakness

A notable weakness of the banderhobb is that once it sustains damage, its damaged flesh crumbles away like dirt. It cannot heal from this damage, making it vulnerable to persistent attacks.

The Bandertine

The bandertine is a flickering and semi-translucent figure, radiating intense heat and surrounded by an aura of dancing flames. Its form is ever-shifting, comprised of embers, flames, and smoky wisps, which give it an ethereal and mesmerizing appearance. Its molten red eyes reflect the inner blaze that burns within.

Summoning Ritual

Summoning a bandertine involves a ritual combining ashes from a funeral pyre, four large rubies, horse fat, and one wax candle. The mixture is ignited in a clay bowl during the ritual while invoking fire spirits.

Behavior and Motives

Once summoned, the bandertine possesses an insatiable desire to burn and spread chaos through flames. It takes pleasure in causing fear and panic in its victims. Although not bound to its summoner, it may remain in their vicinity as long as it finds their presence entertaining.

Abilities

  • Pyrokinesis: It can manipulate and create fire at will, conjuring scorching fireballs, building walls of fire, and enveloping enemies in burning infernos.
  • Agility: The bandertine moves with incredible agility, capable of running on walls and ceilings, unaffected by the intense heat it radiates.
  • Heat Resistance: It can resist extreme heat and flame, allowing it to remain unharmed in fiery environments that consume others.
  • Flame Sight: Its eyes, made of a fiery stone, can see invisible creatures, providing an advantage in detecting hidden foes.

Weakness

The banderflik's power diminishes when exposed to substances or conditions that cool it down. Dousing it with water or subjecting it to extreme cold weakens its fiery essence, rendering it a smoldering ember struggling to reignite its flames.

The Banderluf

The banderluf is an elusive figure obscured by a cloud of lanternflies. Its form remains invisible when still, and it can only be seen when it moves and the lanternflies pass in front of it. The lanternflies' glow creates an ethereal and mesmerizing sight, making the banderluf seem like a shifting mirage.

Summoning Ritual

Summoning a banderluf requires a ritual that involves the essence of air and a connection to nature. Components used in the ritual might include a zephyr breeze from a secluded meadow, silver chimes that resonate with the air's frequencies, moonlit water, moth wings, and the final breath of a nightingale as an offering to air spirits.

Behavior and Motives

The banderluf is elusive and enigmatic, delighting in causing confusion and chaos with its mastery over the air. It may connect with individuals who appreciate nature's wonders and are adventurous.

Abilities

The banderluf possesses a diverse set of abilities that showcase its control over air and its mysterious nature:
  • Aerokinesis: It can manipulate air currents, controlling the direction and strength of the wind. This ability allows it to create gentle breezes, powerful gusts and even summon storms.
  • Invisibility in Stillness: The banderluf remains invisible when still, concealed within the lanternflies' glow. It can only be seen when it moves and the lanternflies pass before it.
  • Air Pocket Creation: The banderluf can create pockets of calm and tranquility amidst turbulent weather, providing refuge to those it favors.
  • Mist Manipulation: It can transform into mist or control existing mists, using them to obscure vision or move stealthily.
  • Emotional Empathy: The banderluf senses the emotions of those around it and may amplify or pacify those emotions to influence their actions.
  • Telepathy: The banderluf can speak directly to one's mind. Its voice rasps like a cold wind through a stone canyon.
  • Weather Sense: The banderluf has an innate connection to the weather, enabling it to predict atmospheric conditions and anticipate upcoming storms or other natural phenomena.

Weakness

Paradoxically, while the banderluf thrives on mischief, it seeks tranquility in nature. Calm and serene environments bolster its powers, while turbulent and polluted areas weaken it. Pollution, such as thick smoke, smog, or noxious fumes, can disrupt the banderluf's connection to the air, limiting its abilities.

The Banderdol

The banderdol is a mysterious and ever-shifting elemental, embodying the essence of water. Its form constantly changes, flowing like water and adapting to its surroundings. It appears as an ethereal figure with a fluid, translucent body reflecting the colors of the surrounding water. Its mesmerizing appearance captures the essence of ocean depths and the serenity of tranquil lakes.

Summoning Ritual

Summoning a banderdol involves a ritual harnessing water's essence and natural flow. Components used in the ritual include fish eggs, eel skin, quartz crystals, and seaweed buried beneath garnet sand, while a melody is played from a conch shell horn to anchor the summoner to the water spirits.   Behavior and Motives: The banderdol embodies the enigmatic and ever-changing nature of water. Predicting its motives or actions is often tricky, as it exhibits calm and tumultuous traits. A banderdol is most likely among the four banders to bond with its summoner.

Abilities

The banderdol wields a wide array of water-related abilities, reflecting its control over this essential element:
  • Hydrokinesis: It can manipulate and control water, shaping it into various forms, such as gentle cascades, powerful tidal waves, or ice constructs.
  • Water Shield: The banderdol can summon a protective water barrier, providing defense against physical attacks and quenching the flames of fire elementals.
  • Hydroportation: With its mastery over water, the banderdol can teleport through bodies of water, vanishing from one location and reappearing in another connected water source.
  • Raincalling: The banderdol can call forth gentle rains or torrential downpours, nurturing the land or creating temporary obstacles for foes.
  • Ripplesense: A banderdol can track movements through water over many miles of open water. Within smaller bodies of water like lakes or ponds, a banderdol's senses are near omniscient.

Weakness

Despite its elemental might, the banderdol's power wanes when separated from large bodies of water or confronted with desiccation. Prolonged exposure to arid environments can gradually weaken the banderdol, diminishing its water-manipulating abilities.
