The tenth Pirate to use the name of the famous pirate featured in the myth of "Jacatu and the Leviathan" was born as Ecedes Atroyos in the Nissean Archipelago in the Ptyrponean Sea. Ecedes was recruited into the crew of the Merciful Goddess as a teenager and spent over a decade on the ship until the previous Jacatu bequeathed her the platinum trident marking her the new successor of the name Jacatu.

Jacatu the Tenth spent her first few years as captain, building her reputation and laying low. Meeting with old partners and accomplices of her predecessor, Jacatu cemented alliances that would guarantee her prominence as a worthy successor to the platinum trident. One change Jacatu made in her tenure as Captain of the Merciful Goddess was the venture of performing jobs and requests for nobility along the Ptyrponean Coast. Inserting herself into the culture of courtly intrigue allowed Jacatu to gain more power and wealth than any of her predecessors. Gaining favor and buiding close friendships with various nobility, such as the prince of Nimvados, gave her opportunity to be granted her own title of nobility as Lady Ecedes Atroyos, the first Jacatu to become a noble.
