Commander
A commander controls the entire army, and is only answerable to the leader of that country. Commanders aren't generally spoken about, however two of them are spoken about throughout history: Algernon Cholmondeley and Nikaidou Ienori.
Requirements
Generally, a commander has to be serving in that military for a long time before gaining the title, although some have attained it withing a few years of service. Also, he has to have done a heroic deed that was good: something that he would have done with no witness, no reward, and no hope.
Duties
The commanders leads the entire army, and in times of war, entire legions. A commander is tasked with meeting the military leaders of other nations, in order to keep up peace between neutral and friendly countries. And secretly monitor enemy nations, in order to protect their own.
Benefits
Commanders can sometimes request a higher pay than that of a regular soldier, however most do not as they are trying to make a better in their community.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Commanders will often be given a weapon that compliments their combat style. For example, Algernon Cholmondeley was given a blackpowder rifle when he was given the title of commander.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
If a commander is found to be disloyal, they are dishonourably discharged, and thrown out of the nation. However, if there have been any other implications, he will be honourably discharged (if not step down entirely) and be given immense wealth and will be given city guards to protect their home.
Notable Holders
Algernon Cholmondeley, commander of Richel and leader of the Military Police of Richel, is well known for his race (Giff) and his usage of blackpowder weapons.
Nikaidou Ienori, the shōgun of Las Aminour, was a hero in the Lesser Wars (which was how he attained his title). However, he stepped down shortly after the Battle of Las Aminour, seeing the destruction that was caused by someone he had looked up to: Aaron Firehand.
