Physical Description

Body Features

Ophelia's skin is smooth, and cold to the touch, without the normal 'give' of regular skin. One might almost think her to be made of porcelain, though it can withstand much more pressure before cracking. Her joints are much like a ball-jointed doll's, and the skin there is much tougher than the rest of her skin, in order to withstand more pressure. Her hair is soft and fluffy, almost like fur, and Ophelia takes very good care of it so it can remain that way. Her 'wings' are coated in a similar texture, rather than feathers, but it seems to be coarser- these wings are also not capable of actual flight, being far too small, but Ophelia can move them around. They're a good indicator of her mood.

Apparel & Accessories

Although Ophelia only has one outfit in her possession, she's incredibly fond of elegant and practical feminine styles. It needs to be durable and easy to move around in, with materials that can stand up to her very active nature. Secretly, she adores over-the-top dresses and more masculine options like waistcoats and vests, but the former would only be for special events, and she would be embarrassed to wear the latter out in public. Her choker was a birthday gift from her father, and as such, she treasures it greatly. The pendant attached to it symbolizes 'water' in alchemy.

Personal history

Ophelia was brought to life by a lonely alchemist named Christopher Baxendale. He desired the child his wife was never able to conceive before her untimely passing, but ended up creating the doll in the image of angels that he had seen in books. Unable to bring her to life with his alchemy alone, he made a desperate wish, and found it granted. Immediately feeling his heart swell with joy and love upon her awakening, Christopher swore to raise her as his own, and love her like he would his actual child. Most of Ophelia's early years were spent teaching her alchemy, as well as letting her learn about the world around her, though Christopher never let her venture out unsupervised. The world outside was one of technology and progress, and arcanaphobia was steadily growing; a religious cult, known as the Flood, preached against mortals messing in 'realms beyond their comprehension'. Unfortunately, that sentiment rose to a fervor pitch after a magic-based terrorist attack struck numerous populated cities. Christopher and Ophelia's tiny rural town turned against their friend and healer, demanding that Ophelia be killed lest she turn on them all. Christopher refused, instead spending his last few moments to open up a rift that Ophelia could jump through to safety. She reluctantly went through it, knowing she would never see her 'father' again. The rift was meant to deliver Ophelia to safety... instead, the doll landed in Las Calabazas, afraid and utterly alone. Determined to survive on her own, Ophelia soon ran into roadblocks. She was considered a Construct, under the city's ruling, and thus without her creator to vouch for her, she couldn't truly own her own home or even count herself a true citizen. Furious at being once again discriminated against, Ophelia sought ways to fight for her freedom, and found it in Nightside's burgeoning movement. APEX offered Ophelia a way to set things right, and she gladly accepted... but the road ahead promises to be a long one.

Ophelia dreams of living an independent life, full of adventure and discovery. She wants to be seen as capable and reliable, and not have others babying her or preventing her from making her own decisions. She wants to carry on her father's business as an alchemist, helping others with their problems and solving the unknowns of the multiverse. Secretly, she would like to fall in love some day and get married.
