Vivianite

Properties

Material Characteristics

The Vivianite is a deep green crystaline gem which can be found throughout the Ashwood. It grows on the bones of long-dead animals on the forrest floor and provides a faint glimmer of light in the dark. A wandering stranger to the wood may mistake their light for glow bugs or whisps. Due to its nature of growing from decay and the faint light it gives off, there have been many tales of how it came to be and what it is. A popular folktale told by outsiders around the continent if of the spirits that inhabit the forest and trick the lost traveler to wander deeper into the wood, never to be seen again...

Physical & Chemical Properties

Vivianite has deep ties to the earth, giving it strong directional properties. It can be used to navigate to any place in the world based the the holders location. It has varried healing properties based on how much is harvested, which is not well-known outside the Ashwood as the inhabitants work to protect it from outsiders for they know that if anyone outside their wood knew about it's special properties, they would surely try and take it for themself.

The Vivianite give off a low hum, like a finger running along a crystal drinking glass. This hum can disorient or sharpen the senses based on its frequency.

Origin & Source

"Though you may find it beautiful, never touch the vivianite crystals found near the Ashwood. If you do, you may never return. The light they give off is from the spirits of the forest who do not take kindly to humanoid beings. They will lure you in with their dazling gleam and bring you further toward doom... If you hear the siren song of the forest, it is already too late."
