Overgod

Appointment

The appointment of Overgod has only happened once with Nihilus, The Voidbringer, and Torig, The Allsight. The previous Overgod, Ao, raised one god from the bright and dark pantheons to the divine status of Overgod, and it is theorized that only the current Overgod can appoint another by transferring their power to another.

Duties

The duty of Overgod is to ensure that the gods and to a greater extent the world follow the rules and laws of the cosmos. If a god were to step out of line and create something against cosmic law, it is the duty of an Overgod to erase the creation, and then erase the god from existence. Additionally, Nihilus and Torig are tasked with maintaining the balance between light and dark and good and evil.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Overgod correspond with their duty to enforce cosmic law and maintain balance. They have the authority to raise mortals into godhood, and also the power to strip gods of their powers and return them to mortality. The very presence of the Overgod in the material world is also their responsibility, for it is their cosmic magic that holds the material plane together and prevents Lateras from breaking apart and drifting throughout the infinite cosmos.

Benefits

An Overgod is given special cosmic abilities that grant them infinitely more power than the gods of the material plane. These powers include but are not limited to total omnipotence, cosmic manipulation, and time manipulation.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

To the knowledge of the world, there is no way to remove an Overgod from power. The only way an Overgod has been stripped of their power is when a new one was appointed.
