Substantive Title
The holder of a substantive title has the right to hold an estate in vassalage, likely tied to specific responsibilities. After Magnus the Pious's Imperial Reforms, a substantive title cannot normally be removed once granted, and can only be secured by one of two ways: grant by a sovereign body or inheritance. The Empire only confers substantive titles to individuals, so they are never shared with spouses or extended families. All substantive title-holders of Prime Estates have the right to sit and vote on the Imperial Diet in the Volkshall.
