Carea
Carea is one of the seven major deities known in the acadean pantheon. She is the goddess of love, who is associated with affection, beauty and femininity. She is always depicted as a very beautiful young woman, though her exact appearance is said to change depending on individual preferences. In depictions, Carea usually holds some kind of musical instrument, most commonly a harp or lyre. Though her depiction might lead to the belief that the goddess is always kind, loving and caring, but while she can certainly appear that way, her character is much more facetted than people give her credit for.
In mythological stories, Carea often is described as quite sharp-tongued and excellent at misleading mere mortals through words. She has the ability to tell someone exactly what they asked without actually telling them anything useful. In addition, she can manipulate nearly everyone into doing exactly what she wants them to do with the help of her - quite literally - divine looks and her irresistable charm. While spoken words out of Carea's mouth can be quite persuasive, they usually work only on individual people or relatively small groups. This changes when put into song, as the music amplifies the magic capabilities of her words.
As one might imagine, Carea has been caring and helpful on occasion, but is also notoriously excellent at misleading through words alone. Therefore she has created her fair share of mischief and drama in acadean mythology. Wars have been fought on her behalf and many a lover has despaired over her cryptic advice. While she, like most of the Seven, has a divine opposite, Theor, god of war, her character in itself already is made up of contrasts, making her a very interesting and underappreciated goddess.
