Luceas Mearis
Luceas Mearis was born in the summer of 1199 CE as the first and only son of Lord Arian Mearis. He was raised as the heir and educated in both warfare and diplomacy from a very young age. Unlike most of his ancestors, Luceas was soon discovered to be a fighter rather than a talker. This sometimes led to conflict between him and his father. Even though Luceas was heir to the lordship and his father's only son, the relationship between the two was always troubled.
When King Eleothar Angeleos died in 1213 CE, Luceas travelled to Angeleor with his father, who was required to pledge to the new King. Luceas, then fourteen years old, had recently started to discover his own sexuality and fallen in love with a sixteen-year-old mearian soldier, who had joined the Lords company, so Luceas would have a friend of roughly his own age around.
In Angeleor, Luceas and the soldier were caught kissing in an alley. Even though there was no real legal ground for it, the soldier was immediately discharged from his service, and Luceas was disowned and thrown out of the family. As it turned out, the soldier was only interested in Luceas' money and left him soon after. Alone and heart-broken, Luceas did his best to survive in the streets of Angeleor and was eventually taken in by an orphanage.
A year later, he was taken to the castle to be trained to become a soldier in the Eleonian Army. Initially, he chose not to share his history with anyone. In training, it quickly became apparent that Luceas knew how to fight, so General Ameada Angeleos had him spar with her son, fourteen-year-old King Ionathar Angeleos. Luceas joined the army and the two became close friends, a friendship that bloomed into a sexual relationship over the following few years, though Ionathar was not ready to commit to a romantic relationship.
In late 1217, the first battle of the Angeleor fields, Ionathar saved Luceas' life. Afterwards, their relationship became even closer, with Luceas even joining the voyage to Lupear and Aguilear in the place of an injured Knight of the Royal Guard. After the second battle of the Angeleor fields, Luceas was knighted by Ionathar and officially appointed the place on the Royal Guard he'd been unofficially filling since the previous battle.
With his knighthood, King Ionathar also restored Luceas' family name, overriding Lord Mearis' initial ruling. Now, Luceas Mearis has a reputation as a loyal and brave warrior and is the newest and youngest Knight of the Royal Guard presently serving the King of Eleonis.
