Valeori
The Valeori are a group of people native to south-eastern Leanor. Even though the region is named Valeor, only a small percentage of the people who live there actually are Valeori. Most of them are instead descended from Acadean immigrants or other groups from Leanor and other surrounding regions. This is mostly due to the fact that the Valeori are stricktly peaceful and do not engage in any type of military action, not even to defend themselves, making them an easy target for intruders. The groups that still exist to this day survived by hiding themselves in mountains or forests.
Since killing wild animals is forbidden, making hunting of fishing not an option, Valeori live from lifestock and agriculture. They only eat meat of their own animals who died a natural death that did not involve any kind of disease, resulting in a mostly vegetarian diet. This also carries over into their dress, as they mostly use plant based textiles and things like wool, which does not involve the death of an animal in its production. Leather or fur, like meat, is only used if the skin used belonged to an animal that died from natural causes. Like the Serbaith, who live further north in the Dragon's Ridge, the Valeori believe in the Dragons of Old, making them one of very few ethnicities in the area of the former Acadean Empire who did not adopt the acadean pantheon. This is one of the ways the Valeori resist outside influence.
Thoughout history, Valeor has been run over by outsiders many times, be it by the Acadeans, by southern folk or by groups from Leanor. For example, in the Great War urtheonian King Laethis Soanis came to Valeor in order to conquer and enlarge his forces to attack Eleonis. Knowing that the Valeori would not fight for him, he would most likely have killed any Valeori he found, forcing the Valeori into hiding until the danger passed. In some cases the Valeori were forced to fight for somebody, but they usually resisted or plainly refused to fight, which unfortunally got them killed. Similar things happend again and again in Valeori history.
Even within Valeor, the Valeori are often oppressed by larger, more powerful groups. Since Valeor doesn't have a joint government, no laws are in place to protect them either and the Valeori do not only suffer under outsiders, but under other inhabitants of their land too.
