Howling Hill
The Howling Hill is a place of mystical power in the Sternespass region of Aldernord, atop which the town of Gildenschloss and its Great Tower now stand.
In the distant past, the Howling Hill - and the Mystic Pylon at its heart - is thought to have been guarded by a powerful Elemental spirit, though the identity and nature of this spirit are unknown, and the guardian is thought to have been slain many millenia ago. At the time of the rise of the Empire of Kataris it was controlled by a circle of druids who refused to surrender to the Basilisk Queens and were either killed or driven into exile. The Katari are believed to have occupied the site and turned it to their own purposes, naming it Kinik Goetis, though it is unclear exactly what use they put the pylon to.
By the time of Erastes Tideborn, the site had fallen into obscurity and been abandoned for a century or more. It is believed to have been rediscovered by Ilse Sarren van Malaborg, who with the backing of Heliodora Tyrantbane founded the Gilded Tower and constructed the magical citadel that stands there to this day.
