Lunar Estates
The enigmatic Lunar Estates take the form of a great alabaster palace of great size, whose cloisters and colonnades overlook a wide expanse of white dust and rock, all of which is under an endless darkened sky, studded with countless stars that wheel endlessly across the heavens. The Estates are often said to be a direct counterpart to the City of Lamps; it is sometimes said that whilst the City of Lamps is the resting place of scholars and philosophers, the Lunar Estates are the palace of artists and poets whose work seeks to transcend the mundane world and be one with all that is sublime and eternal.
Also found within the Lunar Estates are the celestials known as Lillendi, who appear as hauntingly beautiful winged humanoids with the lower bodies of serpents. Cloaked in mystery and enigma, the lillendi are said to be keepers of lore and history and have a great love of music and poetry; they have the power to bless those that please them with great artistic inspiration, and the knowledge of many matters that have been lost to the memory of mortals - though they will rarely if ever give a straight answer to any question. Though peaceful by temperament, the lillendi should not be underestimated, and can be deadly enemies when roused to anger; they claim a particular animosity towards any who seek to “profane the mysteries of creation”, though what is meant by this term is hard to say. The lillendi are, by some accounts, linked in certain ways with the demonic Marilith, and with the Yuan-Ti - though the nature of this connection is unclear, and to pry too deeply into this question is a certain way of earning the ire of the lillendi.
The Lunar Estates are associated with the mysterious entity known as the Queen of the Moon. Rarely seen, she communicates to the shades of the dead who dwell in her great mansion through various intermediaries; those who have claimed to see her describe her as taking the form of a veiled humanoid seemingly made of the same alabaster of which palace is composed, who speaks in a voice like the whispering of the ocean and knows the deepest secrets of the universe. Theologians have theorised that she may be one of a number of goddesses of the moon; the Savu goddess Mnemene is most frequently identified with her, though the truth of this matter is unclear.
The Lunar Estates are also home to the pegasi, celestial winged horses who serve the Queen of the Moon, and who act as psychopomps to souls that they consider worthy.
