Sha'asek
Sha'asek, whose name is thought to derive from a Celestial phrase meaning "divine thread of the sun", is an enigmatic deity worshipped by the Rathi adherents of the Eightfold Circle. Often depicted as a spider or as having spider-like qualities, they are said to be a deity of fate, storytellers, and history.
Sha'asek is sometimes said to have some form of connection to the mysterious Inevitables known as the Aevarut, who are said to be concerned with the maintenance of fate and destiny, though the nature of this connection is unclear.
Sha'asek is venerated most widely by the Rathi elves, with the Raths of the Spider in the Great Rainforest of Grezhu being perhaps the most fervent of Sha'asek's worshippers, though it is said that they are also worshipped outside of the Eightfold Circle by a handful of cults among the Dovkoshi orcs and in some parts of the Hegemony of Parath.
Based on the description of the Prophet of Silk and Stone as being the "high priestess" of Sha'asek, it would appear that Sha'asek was worshipped by the Eladrin in the distant past, long before the Rathi diaspora and the formulation of the Eightfold Circle.
Avatars and Appearance
When seen in visions, Sha'asek typically appears as a large arachnoid entity seemingly constructed from brass and white marble, the latter being shot through with veins of inky-blackness akin to that which is associated with manifestations of the Fountain of Night.
