The Words of Azibaal against the Lurkers Below are a formal denunciation invoking the Curse of Obscurity against the Aboleth, understood to have been declared by King Azibaal of Vash Ossai on his deathbed, 1,720 years before the foundation of the Katari Empire. They were lost for almost two millennia following the Fall of Vash Ossai, but were rediscovered by a party of adventurers in 1344AK.

Words of Azibaal against the Lurkers Below

1. These are the words of Azibaal, King of Vash Ossai and Overlord of the Gilashim, who upon his deathbed, in the Two-Hundred and Eleventh year of his reign, did denounce the Lurkers Below thusly:
2. It being the case that the Lurkers Below, called abalittu, were in past centuries considered allies of the Gilashim, and did impart their knowledge to us in a great many respects in exchange for our protection and tithings,
3. And it being the case that the Lurkers Below swore to the Empress Enshumenabba, She-Who-Lives-In-Death, that they would share their knowledge of certain secrets to her line alone,
4. And it being the case that the Lurkers Below did by word and deed break this compact through their dealings with the sa'aghun, the elad'ri'in, and Others Whose Names Are Stricken, even as they swore loyalty to Empress Enshumenabba,
5. And furthermore, it being the case that we have since learned that the Lurkers Below did in secret conspire to enslave the Clan Gilashim and the City of Vash Ossai,
6. And it furthermore being the case that, when they became aware of our discovery of their conspiracy, the Lurkers Below did send their assassins against us,
7. We do find that the Lurkers Below are oathbreakers, liars, and traitors of the lowest kind.
8. Henceforth I, Azibaal of the Line of Empress Enshumenabba, King of Vash Ossai and Overlord of the Gilashim, do declare all our agreements, treaties, oaths, and pacts with the Lurkers Below, be they temporal or spiritual, to be broken.
9. By my authority I proclaim the Curse of Obscurity upon them:
10. May their Names be Stricken from the records,
11. May whatsoever good that has come of their acts be unspoken of,
12. May their knowledge be attributed to another,
13. May this denunciation be all that remains,
14. That they shall be remembered for their treachery alone.
15. By my authority I bar their servants from the city, and forbid all dealings with their kind save for those conducted under the Royal Prerogative.
16. By my authority, I commission what spies and oracles are required to enforce this ruling.
17. And by my authority, I commission the High Artificer Ngeshadar to create a weapon by which the Lurkers may be destroyed, should they ever again threaten the sanctity of the city.
18. By my Immaculate Will, these words are spoken and they are made reality: That for as long as my name is spoken and my memory remains, the Abalittu have no power over Vash Ossai or her children.
19. By my Infinite Will, these words are spoken and they are made reality: That for as long as my name is spoken and my memory remains, the eyes of the Abalittu be blinded to Vash Ossai.
20. Unto the Unmaker I commend my soul.
21. In the name of the Annihilator, it is done.
