Writ of Interdiction

A Writ of Interdiction is a legal declaration, rarely invoked, which grants ultimate authority to a named agent of the Gilded Tower, typically the Mistress of the Tower, for the purpose of counteracting a specific threat to the Sovereignty of Aldernord. It can only be issued by the Queen of Aldernord, and typically is only done so in extraordinary circumstances.
Empowered by such a Writ, the Gilded Tower has unlimited authority to demand the cooperation of any person or organisation within Aldernord (with the exception of the Queen, and the Queensknife, if in office), and to requisition any support whatsoever that might be needed to safeguard Aldernord against the threat. The bearer of the Writ thus has the authority to issue orders to the military and civil authorities of the nation, to act as they see fit in furtherance of the protection of the state and its people; they are considered to speak with the authority of the throne, and are thus not bound to any law or the judgement of any court, and have the right to arrest, imprison, or even execute anyone who interferes in the exercise of this power.
It is usual practice that if there is no Queensknife in office, that the Writ of Interdiction temporarily appoints the bearer with authority over the Office of the Queensknife as Regent of the Knife.
It is unknown how often such a Writ has been issued in the past. One is known to have been issued to Levity of the Tower in 1335 AK in response to the threat posed by the Sanguine Veil.
