Wyldfire

Also known as the Forest of the Passions, Wyldfire is experienced as a luscious temperate woodland, teeming with life. The climate is for the most part mild and quite comfortable, and food is plentiful.   Wyldfire s is claimed as the home of the Satyrs, though a number of other Fey dwell there too. The satyrs claim that they are not native to the Forest of the Passions, but that they arrived there aeons ago when a terrible disaster befell their homeland. It is sometimes implied that the “true” Wyldfire was whatever existed in this place before the arrival of the satyrs, but what that might have been is unclear; most satyrs claim not to know, and in any case they are hardly the most reliable sources of truth - a joke often told both by and about the satyrs is that they are unable to say so much as “good morning” without lying twice.   The satyrs of Wyldfire often make the claim that creation is inevitably doomed, and that nothing can be done about this whatsoever - exactly why this might be the case appears to be a bone of contention - but that wallowing in sorrow or seeking to escape the end is pointless. Rather, one should live life to the fullest and savour the joy of each and every experience, and that even suffering, agony, and death should be celebrated as part of the totality of being. Their hedonistic lifestyle is a natural result of this philosophy; it is often, somewhat inaccurately, described by those unfamiliar with their ways as consisting of perpetual drunkenness and debauchery - but whilst such revelry is a common occurrence in Wyldfire and other places where the satyrs make their home, this is an extremely incomplete picture.   The satyrs perceive no particular difference between life in the material world and the after-life existence in Wyldfire, though they do tend to encourage the shades of the dead to reenter the world through reincarnation once they have had their fill of the pleasures of the forest - for to forget all things, and experience them anew, is perhaps the greatest joy of all.   Though a number of deities - mostly those associated with forces of nature and the fey - dwell here, the most commonly spoken of is the Queen of the Satyrs, Lady of Love and War, who goes by the name of Bloodstained Kiss of the Beloved Foe. It is sometimes claimed that Bloodstained Kiss achieved apotheosis through overthrowing the previous rulers of the Wyldfire, though as with almost everything relating to the Satyrs, this claim should probably not be taken at face value.
