Death of Sajen

General Summary

12 Marpenoth, The Year of the Duplicitous Courtier (1496 DR)     Tomb of the Nine Gods, City of Omu, Chult
The room was a vast, circular chamber, its floor a polished sheet of glass that reflected the eerie glow of the hundreds of candles in alcoves along the chamber's edge.   Unbeknownst to the group, Belchorzh, a monstrous beholder with a spherical body and multiple eye stalks, loomed invisible over the adventurers, its gaze fixed on them.   The battle was hard fought at first. However, Zantix cast Fairie Fire on Belchorzh, which turned the battle in the group's favor.   During the encounter, Belchorzh unleashed a ray of energy from one of its eye stalks, striking Sajen directly. The wizard's body disintegrated before their eyes, leaving only a dust pile behind.   The group was stunned by their friend's sudden demise. But they knew they had to press on. Zantix, the druid, called forth powerful spells against Belchorzh, while Mask, Sein, and Neverwinter launched coordinated attacks against the deadly beholder. Their blades and spells found their mark, and Belchorzh's body weakened.   Finally, with a roar of pain, the creature collapsed. The adventurers had triumphed, but their victory came with a price: the loss of Sajen, the wizard.
