Nip'hto Mapleheart of Shilmista Forest -RIP-

Nip'hto Mapleheart was born in 1442 DR in the Shilmista Forest located within the disputed territories of Tethyr or Amn in West Faerûn. Nip'hto's ancestral land encompassed the kingdom of the wild elf, King Elbereth. As of 1370 DR, only a single wild elf tribe besides Nip'hto's own wood elf tribe, remained in the forest, hidden in scattered encampments. King Elbereth had a standing order to kill anyone who felled a tree or elf. Nip'hto's tribe of wood elves, or Or-tel-quessirs, saw themselves as guardians of the elves' forest homes.   As he grew up amongst the Elwadar Tribe, it was very apparent even at a young age Nip'hto would someday become a skilled Ranger. He even earned the moniker, "Nip'hto the Tiptoe" because of his uncanny ability to sneak up on unsuspecting animals and gently tap them without alerting them to his presence. In time, his exploits as a skilled hunter, tracker, and bowyer caught the attention of the famed elven ranger, Kivan who also hailed from Shilmista. Kivan met with Nip'hto and offered to train him as a Ranger provided he swore to use his skills to protect commoners wherever he traveled. Nip'hto willingly agreed to do so.   When Nip'hto became an adult, he left his beloved Shilmista Forest and wandered the various settlements within the Tanistan Barony. In the two years he spent in Tanistan living amongst the villagers and hamlets, Nip'hto's reputation as a protector of the commoner became known to Baron Henrik Rennet who quickly offered Nip'hto a position in his court as one of several Wardens whose duty was to protect the barony from hostile creatures from nearby Thornwood Forest, Snowflake Mountains, or Cloven Mountains.   Early one autumn day in 1494 DR, when Baron Rennet's beloved wife Elenore did not return after she had attended a masque at Count Lebrim Moldavia's estate, Moldavia Manor, nor were there any message sent explaining her delay, the Baron called upon the aid of Nip'hto along with a bard named Brostaff the Battlebard and a monk named Tanjarra Greysword. Together, the three were tasked with traveling to Moldavia Manor to find out what happened to the Baroness.   While searching the manor, Nip'hto had learned of the death of Count Lebrim Moldavia's father, Count Fortuno Moldavia, as well as all of their guests, including the Baronness. A blood-red worm the size of a horse had been feasting on the mangled bodies of masqueraders. Count Lebrim Moldavia, however, had managed to escape.   Nip'hto and the other adventurers he traveled with and later met returned to Five Spears Hold with the Baroness's body. However, all magical means to bring back the Baroness to life failed. It was discovered that an affliction people were calling a Death Curse was preventing all spells that breathed life into the dead from functioning. The death curse also afflicted everyone who's been recently raised from the dead. Victims grew thinner and weaker with each passing day since they had been brought back from death, steadily sliding toward the death they once denied.   The Baron tasked Nip'hto and the others to find the means of putting an end to the Death Curse so he may resurrect his beloved wife. He promised he would reward them each with 1,000 gold pieces as well as noble titles and landholdings within his barony when they returned successfully from their quest.
