Tomb of the Nine Gods, Day 1 & 2
12 Nightal, The Year of Twelve Warnings (1494 DR)
Day 61 & 62 of 79
Tomb of the Nine Gods, Omu, Jungles of Chult
The Amazing Bastardos, have finally retrieved all nine puzzle cubes they needed to enter the Tomb of the Nine Gods.
With the puzzle cubes in hand, the adventures used them as keys to opening the entrance to the Tomb of the Nine Gods. Once inside, the group survived through various traps and encounters in their quest to find the Soulmonger. However, both Zartan and Orvex were disintegrated by an eyeball that appeared within a patch of purple mold while the group explored the tomb's third level. With only the main four adventurers left, they continued on knowing they still had to find the Soulmonger. As they explored the dungeon, the adventurers had learned that the Tomb of the Nine Gods' name was derived from the fact that the nine trickster gods of Omu, I'jin, Kubazan, Moa, Nangnang, Obo'laka, Papazotl, Shagambi, Unkh, and Wongo had all been entombed in the multi-level dungeon. Indeed, Bolte, Atwix, and Alice currently host three of the nine gods within them. Each spirit brings with it, its own personality and power as well. Alice has the nervous and obsessive spirit of Obo'laka the zorbo in her. She had bestowed upon the cleric the power of attuning to a fourth magical item, one more than is normally allowed. Atwix hosts the wild and spirited presence of Kubazan the froghemoth within him. He had bestowed upon Atwix the strength of a stone or frost giant. Meanwhile, Bolte hosts the fickle and unpredictable spirit of I'jin the almiraj. She had bestowed upon Bolte god-like dexterity. The group is still exploring the first three levels of the tomb. During their exploration, they came upon tomb guardians, constructs stitched together by tomb dwarves, and bolted into suits of armor. These shambling golems are then released into the tomb to hunt down intruders. So far, the group had encountered and slain four of the golems. They met and killed Withers, a wight tasked by Acererak with overseeing the tomb and the tomb dwarves. They have also found seven 1-inch crystal marbles of varying colors and hue. Each about the size of an eyeball, the group is not certain what they are for although they suspect they need nine of them just as they needed nine puzzle cubes that acted as keys.
