General Summary
12 Marpenoth, The Year of the Duplicitous Courtier (1496 DR)
Tomb of the Nine Gods, City of Omu, Chult
The adventuring company known as S.M.A.L.L. reached the dungeon's next level. At this dungeon level, violet fungi thrived in spots along the floor, walls, and ceiling. The air was thick with the earthy scent of decay. Occasionally, grotesque eyeballs would emerge from within the dense growth, their unblinking gaze fixed on the adventurers. These disembodied eyes seemed to follow every movement, creating an unsettling sensation of being watched by some unseen, malevolent presence. Soon after arriving, they came upon a tomb belonging to the trickster god I'jin. After solving a puzzle to safely enter the tomb, they freed I'jin's spirit, which entered Sein's body. Later, they found a chamber where a shadowy figure stood at an open door on the far side of the room. A stone font filled with steaming green liquid soon appeared in the chamber's center. The group discovered the shadowy figure copied Sein's movement, who had opened the door into the chamber. Realizing the shadowy figure was a mirror-opposite of sorts, Sein soon figured out how to make his opposite drink the green liquid from the font. When it was empty, they found a 1-inch-diameter eyeball made of incandescent orange crystal at the bottom of the font. S.M.A.L.L. continued exploring the level. Along the way, they found several more 1-inch-diameter eyeballs made of varying-colored crystals. They didn't know what the crystal eyeballs were for, but they would soon find out. After crossing a large chamber stretched between two balconies, the group found a room with a fifteen-foot-wide, fifteen-foot-deep pit at its center. At the bottom of the pit was an eight-foot-tall clay figure standing motionless beside a stone treasure chest. A silver key hung from a cord around the figure's neck. An invisible wall of force covered the top of the pit. Zantix tried to cast dispel magic on the invisible wall of force but failed to do so. The room also contained two nine-foot-tall stone statues standing atop plinths on either side of the pit. A third plinth against the south wall stood empty. One of the statues depicted a hooded and bearded male figure with his left hand held high, index finger pointed up. The other portrayed an armored male knight with his gauntleted right hand extended, its palm facing inward toward the knight. The group soon discovered the statues could be rotated, and whoever stood in the empty plinth would be teleported into the pit. Sein, Mask, and Neverwinter were teleported into the pit while Zantix and Sajen stood by the statues. In the pit, Sein, Mask, and Neverwinter fought against the clay figure, which came to life when the others appeared. Although Sein and Neverwinter were hurt during the battle, they eventually slayed the clay figure. After, they used the silver key to open the stone chest. They found two more crystal eyeballs inside, bringing their total to ten. After continuing down a passageway beyond the room with the pit, S.M.A.L.L. came upon a large round door with a round mirror on its surface. Ten circular indentations, each about an inch across, surrounded the mirror. The group now knew what the crystal eyeballs were for but wondered what lay beyond the mirrored door.
