Session 1: One Mystery Down, Many to Go

10 Mirtul/May 1536

You will find that some of these recaps are written in a shorter hand format while others don't spare any details. Nonetheless these are all events that transpired at the table during our home campaign. Over time I will be working on adding more details and pictures as the campaign progresses. Enjoy! -Cameron

General Summary

One year to the day of the first murder, the party agreed to reconvene back in Bremen Atalanta, Bulwark, Morthos, and Amelia who had met briefly just a year ago at the Summer Melt Festival all held true to their promise. One by one they each arrived at Buried Treasures Inn where they learned that not much progress had bee made on who was conducting these murders. The drunken lot huddled in the tavern offers no credible ideas, but sitting apart from them is an elderly female dwarf with a nasty scar across her nose who looks like she has something worth knowing. She’s been smoking her pipe and carefully eyeing them ever since they walked in.   Upon questioning the troubled barmaid, Cora Mulphoon, they learned she was troubled by the sudden absence of her son, Hulwar. He had gone missing durning yet another recovery mission. He did eventually return but he was not "himself". One night after returning, his mother discovered a strange shard of black metallic ice in his bedroom. When he caught her, he threatened his mother with bodily harm should she ever touch it again. The next day, two tieflings (a male and a female) arrived at the inn and offered Hulwar sanctuary in their castle. He left with them willingly, taking the shard with him and telling his mother that he would never return. The tieflings wore amulets that looked much like the shard in Hulwar's possession.   Cora misses her son terribly and she hopes he is still alive. She recalls that one of the tieflings mentioned a castle, and she knows that there are only two castles in Ten-Towns: an intact one in Caer-Dineval and a ruined one in Caer-Konig.
That morning in the tavern, the party was "hired" to go out and fish for knucklehead trout. In doing so, they caught 19 trout, however they encountered the beast of the lake that previous fisherman had been attacked by. The beast turned out to be an intelligent turtle who had been granted consciousness by a human named Ravisin, suspected Druid. She is said to live to the north of Maer Dualdon. The party took notes on the beast and returned them to Tali, a friendly half-elf researcher in Bremen to share with the town, as the beast is not keen to share its waters with the townsfolk.   While walking back to Burried Treasures, the stillness of the night was interrupted by a painful cry; similar to the one they heard a year ago. Dashing through the town toward the noise, they managed to track down the victim: a young woman who had been stabbed in the chest with a dagger of pure ice. Her body had been thrown in the back of a cart along with several crates with a stamp that read, "Torg’s Merchant Co". Bulwark instantly recognized this as the brand of Torrga Icevein.

Sephek Kaltro

As the party contemplated what to do, the culprit made himself known as he ambushed the party. Sephek Kaltro, an employee of Torrga's had been granted the powers to summon an ice blade from the Frostmaiden. He was the same individual the party had briefly seen a year ago at the Summer Melt Festival. They managed to defeat him, but not before he nearly took out the party. They would have all been killed if weren't for the old dwarven woman who had been eyeing them down earlier that day. In the nick of time, Beatrice Battlehammer and her bear were able to save the party, but did not sticking around for long.   Morthos Destin was quick to draw a crowd and boast about how the town could now rest easy. They were rewarded with 100GP for their "heroic" deeds.
