Session 30: Have Relics, Will Travel

General Summary

After the madness that ensued deep beneath the sewers in Waterdeep and saying goodbye to a couple of party members, the remaining few Bolivar, Zephyr, and Xye decided to head to the Drunken Donkey to figure out where to head next and potentially find a few new traveling companions. Here they met Eldred Jo'Nas and Ivellios Brightwood, two elven men seeking adventure and coin, but also looking to join the cause against the giant-kind destroying all of humanity. After an interesting night of drinking, laughs, and a few interesting comments, the party decided to band together and leave Waterdeep to head back north.   Before leaving town a few, very interesting things happened. The original party members filled in Eld and Vel about their primary mission and what they knew about the giant-folk wreaking havoc across the Sword Coast.
Their hierarchy system known as the Ordining has been shattered, and on top of that the Storm Giant patron figure head, King Hekaton is missing and his wife Queen Neri has recently been murdered. With the king missing, the queen murdered, and the Ordining shattered it is all out war among the giants in a fight for power.
Currently you were tasked to recover ancient giant relics that have been scattered across the Sword Coast and return them to the Oracle located in the Eye of Annam for more answers. There Hashnag the Grim is currently waiting for you.   You did some shopping, Bolivar had a unique shield created with some of the objects he has been harvesting from creatures you have been killing throughout you travels. Vel put Eld in a very difficult position after getting smart with a powerful gnome wizard named Zelbros who identified a couple magic items for him. After offending him, he proceeded to try and negotiate on the price of the services rendered. When negotiations were not looking good, Vel tried to cast a charm spell on the shop keeper. This did not go over well. The shop keeper, Zelbros, quickly cast a Hold Person spell on Vel, and his hired muscle, a goliath named Borris, knocked Eld unconscious with 1 critical hit to the face. The shop keeper doubled his price, and said that he would be holding on to the ancient giant relics that he had identified for you until you returned with his coin. All the while Borris tailed you to make sure that you returned with coin in hand. With Vel and Eld not having enough gold, the rest of the party covered the difference but the objects now belonged to them. The party then had a conversation about why Eld and Vel were withholding information about the giant relics when they knew that recovering them was their primary mission. they told you that they had recovered these relics a few months back the the giant burial mound known as Raven Rock, far to the north.   After a day of shopping, paying debts, and trying to to piss anyone else off, the party set out of town to meet up with Delsaphine and her dragon cultists who are currently waiting for you outside of the city in the airship.   While you were headed out of town, you passed by Grandma Genine's Orphanage and Zephyr could have sworn the he saw Chasen Redtooth, the little boy that Catnip said she was returning to Parnast. A few minutes later, nearing the city gates Bolivar saw a couple of guards picking on what looked to be a miniature black bear in a small cage.   The bear turned out to be Diamonddust, the party's mascot. You found out that they recovered the bear (which they thought was a cat) and a small boy from a criminal who had an outstanding warrant and was trying to escape Waterdeep using the boy and the bear as a distraction. She was imprisoned and put into indentured servitude for the 10,050 gp she owed to the city of Waterdeep for resisting arrest and disturbing the peace, and 5,000 gp owed to the circus proprietor, Barnabus for assaulting him by shooting him with an arrow. The child was brought to Grandma Genine's and after some smooth talking, the guards handed over Diamonddust to Bolivar.   yaaaaaaay........   Aboard the airship the party set out for the giant burial mound at Flint Rock, to recover more giant relics. Depsaphine mentioned that she had some brief business to settle in Yartar and that they could make a quick pit stop there.   Passing through the Dessarin Hills, you noticed that many villages had been destroyed and as you neared Yartar you saw giant holes opening up in the ground. Almost like something was either digging into, or out of the earth. Also Vel tought Xye how to play his bag pikes just a little bit better.   After about a day and a half of travel you made your way to Yartar late one evening. There were villagers trying to make their way into the town, all of them very uneasy and desperate. You could see that there was carnage all around and the bodies of several bulettes, the creatures that seemed to be making these giant holes. Delsaphine met up an older man, and they were speaking in a language that could not be understood by Vel or Eld who tried to eavesdrop. Eld did see them go into a building that was partially destroyed; here the older man seemed to be explaining something to Delsaphine and showing her something on the floor, a circle of sorts. Before battle broke out he handed her a wooden coin and all Eld could make out were the words, "The Society".   Just then, the town was attacked by a group of drow who snuck into the city. You fought them off until they narrowly escaped, but managed to capture on in the process. You learned that were led by a drow mage named Taal, and an Mind Flayer named Draac. They were hired by Duke Zalto, the fire giant king, to steal the "Dawn Titan" from the dwarven fortress of Gauntlgrym. You then turned the drow over to the authorities of Yartar.
