Session 32: Saving the Tree Ghost Tribe

General Summary

Traversing through the hidden subterranean tunnels deeper down into the Grandfather Tree, you eventually came into the personal chambers of the leader of the Tree Ghost Tribe, Shremash Fthh. When you first came into the chambers, you saw two massive lizard folk guards standing near the door (Dardek and Pantho), the lizardfolk leader Shremash, Kaidak (the lizardfolk druid caster you followed here), a small old reptilian man you came to know as Trog, and the lifeless body of the half-elvin half lizardfolk archer, Luura.

Shremash "Grey" Fthh, Leader of the Tree Ghost Tribe

Outraged over the death of his daughter, a skirmish broke out against Shremash and his guard. Suddenly in a bright flash, a Fey portal opened and out walked Pywhakett who instantly begged both parties to stop. Shremash and his guard noticed that you were a force to be reckoned with. Thus he asked you to help him and explained the current situation.    The lizardfolk of the Tree Ghost Tribe have been enslaved by frog-like people known as Kuo-toa. They have been syphoning energy from the Va-guuhl, otherwise known as the Heart of the Grandfather Tree. This is the heart and soul of the tribe and their whole reason for existing here deep within the underdark for the past millennia. The kuo-toa are led by a massive monstrosity known as King Ugalak. Ugalak is using the syphoned energy to hold open a portal to the Elemental Plane of Water.

Trog

Normally, Trog would be able to bring Luura back from the clutches of death. However he is unable to do so without the blessing of the Grandfather Tree.   Shremash begged you to help him save his people and defeat Ugalak so that he can resurrect his daughter You agreed to help him. In exchange, he would let you keep the ancient giant relic that you had stolen and killed his daughter over.   That evening Ivellios fell sick with some sort of disease, unable to accompany or aid you.

Approaching the Shachk-la-Tra

The first order of business was to recover Shremash's sword from the Shachk-la-Tra which is currently under Kuo-toa occupation. The Shachk-la-Tra (meaning Ship in the Tree in Bothii) is a place of great significance and holiness. It is where all of the previous leaders of the Tree Ghost Tribe has laid stowed away their very own weapons. In the chambers of the Shachk-la-Tra you saw two stray wyverns, which called out to Shremash and Trog with admiration. Before the Kuo-toa had overthrown the Tree Ghost Tribe, the lizardfolk had used the wyverns as mounts, beasts of burden, and even pets. The Kuo-toa did not get along with the wyverns and had killed off the vast majority of them.   Here, you recovered Shremash's sword, along a few priceless artifacts, while defeating a number of Kuo-toa.   With Shremash's incredible blade now recovered, you made your way to the Shrine of the Va-guuhl where the perversion of the trees magical essence is taking place.   Making your way into the massive domed chamber, you could see a great pyramid in the center with a portal open up. Right above the portal about 10-feet in the air was the Va-guuhl. You could see that the ceiling of this chamber was made up of roots and vines that were dying, with the necrosis stemming out from the heart in the center.

King Ugalak

You battled with the Kuo-toa in this chamber and defeated King Ugalak himself, along with a Water Elemental Myrmidon that passed through the portal.   The portal closed after Shremash delivered the killing blow to King Ugalak, however the necrosis continued to spread from the Heart of the Grandfather Tree...
