Session 41: Hero's Reward: Stoneshingle Wing

General Summary

The party first went to the Ice Mountain Infirmary to question the surviving dwarves from the attacks in the mines. After seeing their state of bewilderment, it was safe to say that whatever is down there is purely terrifying.   Over the course of 4 days, the party went down deep into the mines and sealed the hole that the Black Powder miners opened up that unleashed creatures of darkness. You found evidence that Olga's father was down here (his personal ale stash and his mining pick with a gold handle), however many of the bodies in the mine were unidentifiable. Vel did however, take one of the bodies that appeared to be less decomposed.   Your arrival back at Citadel Adbar was celebrated by nearly the entire fortress. The people of this city are eternally grateful for your service. During the celebration ceremony, King Harnoth granted each of you the magic items of which you requested. Due to your overwhelming heroism and destruction of the tyrant, Zarod Blackblade, and turning over his staff, they gave you and additional 10,000 gold pieces and your own personal residence within the Citadel. It was formerly known as Stoneshingle Wing and was the childhood home of Shane Tranter. It has been unoccupied since his father's death who was formerly one of the members of the King's High Council. The King also offered a residence to Olga's mother, within his personal wing. However, the celebration was cut short by the sounding of the Iron Guard's horn, followed by two loud cannon blasts coming from the Grand Entrance of Adbar. Apparently 2 cloud giant scouts traveling atop griffons with 100-foot wingspans were seen dangerously close to Adbar. Shane who seemed curiously uncomfortable since your arrival back to the city had shared with you the information you gathered while you were away: The storm giants sat at the top of the ordining. They are very powerful, however with King Hekaton missing and Queen Neri murdered their influence over the other giants is waning. Princess Serissa, the youngest of the three sisters, is an honest giant. She is the one who currently sits upon the Wyrmskull Throne and wields the Korolnor Scepter. She has a good head on her shoulders and she can be reasoned with. She is currently ruling the Maelstrom with the help of her uncle, Imperator Uthor Her sisters, Miran and Nym are a different story; there is an outside unknown evil influence that corrupts their minds. He shared with you a bit of information about the legendary Wrymskull Throne and Korolnor Scepter. The information that made Shane uneasy was the fact that some of the giants were gathering at the Maelstrom in 2 days - an event that has not happened since the Ordining was broken. A scrying revealed that the two older sisters are entertaining several high-ranking visitors: A cloud giant count named Vaal (neutral evil) A fire giant duchess named Tartha (lawful evil) A frost giant jarl named Hellenhild (neutral evil) A stone giant thane named Braxow (neutral) Shane does not know what they are there for but whatever it is, it cannot be good. Ivellios disclosed the information about his dream; seeing the Morkoth and King Hekaton bound by chains on it's deck. Shane dismissed the idea, explaining that the Morkoth is a magical ship that is impossible to be tracked due to a magical enchantment that hides the vessel from divination magic. Neither the ship nor anyone aboard it can be targeted by any form of divination magic or perceived through magical scrying sensors. Currently it is Day 8; you will have 2 days of downtime in Citadel Adbar before the meeting at the Maelstrom to make preparations, discuss party tactics, and bang dwarves (if you're into that sort of thing - I'm looking at you Ivellios).
