Session 6: Knights of the Black Sword
General Summary
After escaping the Devil’s Kettle and freeing Glenn, the missing bar owner from Caer-Konig, the party crossed the jagged ice shards that made up the Lac Dinneshire to return to the main path. Sending Glenn on his way to return north back to Caer-Konig, the road to the south presented a common problem; bad weather. The party made their way through the storm but found themselves separated, with Atalanta and Nix veering off course. Luckily the party was able to reconvene at an old ruined castle that was stationed within a thick wooded section of wilderness just west of the road they were previously traveling on.
Capitalizing on a break in the storm, you discovered that this was once an outpost of the Longstriders, an elven civilization that had disappeared many years ago. Before getting a chance to explore the ruins, you were interrupted by a frost giant riding atop a mammoth, herding two other younger mammoths traveling west. Doing your best to hide, you were discovered by a winter wolf, a companion to the frost giant. Quickly the party jumped back onto your sleds and made a mad dash towards Caer-Dineval, still miles out. The mammoth-frost giant duo gave chase and eventually gained enough ground to hurl its massive harpoon at Morthos in the rear which nearly resulted in catastrophe.
Nonetheless, the party arrived in Caer-Dineval to find it in worse shape that the previously visited towns. You had discovered that town was for the most part taken over by the Knights of the Black Sword, a devil worshiping cult led by Barrister Kadroth. The red skinned tiefling claims to receive visions from Archdevil Levistus himself. The cult had welcomed you into the Town Speaker’s Keep (note, no sign of Speaker Siever himself) where you stayed the evening.
As the night continued you were summoned by Hethyl Arkorran, an old female dwarf who granted you information in exchange for your deepest fears. You were unnerved at the conclusion of your conversation; which resulted in your physical forms waking up the next morning as if nothing had happened.
Exiting the Keep a few hours before day break, you’ve came upon the sight of a burnt humanoid figure tied to a stake. As you approach you recognize it as no other than Hulwar Mulphoon, the son of Cora, barkeep at the Buried Treasures Inn in Bremen.
