The Void

The void is a place of punishment and suffering, often described as a realm of complete darkness and a cold so freezing as to defy any explanation as to how those who are there can exist. The air is thick with the heinous smell of death. The only sensations that exist in the void are those of torment and despair, nothingness and hopelessness for all time. 
There is a common misconception that for all eternity the gods of the void rule the realm and they participate in the suffering of the souls that are trapped there. In reality there will come a day when the false gods will be torn down from their thrones above the freezing pits and be made to suffer alongside those that chose to be there.
The void is a place absent of the Almighty. The mortal realm still exists at least partially under the influence of the Almighty, therefore his attributes of love, peace, rest and hope can still be felt and experienced. But if the Almighty were to leave a place entirely, he would take all of his attributes with him. This is the void.
