Buckholt
The Manor of Buckholt is held by Sir Hyfaidd de Buckholt.
The Hamlet
Situated on the edge of the Test Valley, the hamlet of Buckholt is situated beneath Buckholt Hill, a hill where the manorhouse stands on. The area itself is not rich, mostly due to the depredations of the Saxons, and to counter it, a small pallisade wall has been erected around the town by Sir Hyffaidd. Compared to most manors in the area, there is an unusually high amount of freemen paying rent instead of the classic villeins. Most of these are sons of the mercenaries that Sir Hyffaidd's father settled in Britain with after the March. The Manor
Buckholt Manor is not a large hall, but it does have a solar and a bedroom for the knight, as well as a strong, lead-tiled roof. It also have several strange iron-spikes, tips from the Frankish Angron spears.Other Notables
The Manor is also home to a retinue of mounted serjeants, as Sir Hyffaidd have often found it best to keep a standing group of cavalry to counter the raiders, especially in his duty as the bailiff of Thorngate. These serjeants are not hired men, but enfeoffed serjeants who have minor manors of their own.
