King Lot of Lothian

King Lot ap Cadlew

Lot of Orkney
The young King of Orkney rules the strongest realm North of Hadrians Wall, and is of mixed Cymric and Pictish heritage. His father, King Cadlew, united the feuding tribal realms of his cousins, and wed Der-Llei, a Pict Princess, who by matrilineal right passed her realm on to her son. Cadlew was killed in battle against the Scotii in 489, leaving his kingdom to his 20-year old son.

He rules the eastern coast of Alba, from Lothian to Orkney, and is renowned for his fury and prowess in battle as well as his dedication of the Heathenry of the Picts. Both his father and his father's father fought against the weaklings of the south and he views himself as a the only rightful inheritor of King Coel Hen, the Cumbrian King of legend, who his great-grandmother was born of, thus bringing him into conflict with almost every Cumbrian petty king, including the Centurion King of Eburacum. On his great-grandfather, however, is the famed Cunneda of the Votadini, making him kin to the lords of Merionydd.

For the past five years, King Lot has slowly been claiming the allegiances of many of the Pictish tribes of the North who respect his strength of arms and hunting prowess. These tribes either enter into alliances with him or are defeated by his forces, and his Kingdom is crucial in keeping the Northern tribes from spilling over into all of Britain.
