The third son of a household knight from a Berroc Saxon lineage, no one had thought Jareth would ever become a knight. But, he preserved and his father made enough money for this to happen. And fortune be good it did, as Jareth quickly turned out to be the deftest swordsman the realm of Logres had ever seen.
A maternal cousin three times removed to Lady Ellen, it was by sheer happenstance he found himself in Sarum, hoping to get Lord Rodericks patronage. But, when four knights of repute found themselves bested, it was clear that Jareth was a prize for his liege lord.
His skills have made him a trusted Emissary for Lord Roderick, on tasks that he would never send his vassals on. Severals summers have been spent on the road, on his lordship's errand, doing great deeds. In the Perinnes, he beat four knights of Malahaut and slew the evil Half-Giant; he fought duels and was finally wed with the Lady Ethel of Hantonne, the Justiciars Daughter, a foolish love that inspired a song in southern Logres; in Huntland, he fought a Saxon-speaking troll named Laugner and scattered those Saxon kidnappers.
In the years since his marriage, Sir Jareth has calmed a bit, and taken up responsibilty as the Marshal of Salisbury, a title that he knows is more important now than ever before. At the Battle of Cambridge, he was one of the knights that broke into King Aescwine's inner circle and managed to give the Saxon king a mighty wound.
