Sir Leo Valerius
A Knight of virtue and duty
Sir Leo Valerius
Born to the Valerius lineage of Durnovaria, Leo was never meant to become a knight, but rather, he was to be a lawyer like his father before him, as their part of the aristocratic Valerius lineage had long since lost the right of equite. But then, the Saxons happened.
A raid destroyed the country estate of the old Roman family, and Leo was the only son left to carry that mantle forward. When Aurelius Ambrosius landed, Sir Leo Valerius was there as well. Ever since, he's been the moral center of the court of Sarum, where he found service as the old Praetor of Dorsette did not find it fitting to employ a man of the family that once betrayed the Praetor's lineage.
Leo serves as Champion of Lord Roderick, a title that he holds with a sense of Justice as well as a lot of Mercy, a combination of traits that does not sit well with certain members of the court, as they feel the moral knight is not fit to defend the Count when push comes to shove. Sir Leo is wed to a younger woman, the daughter of an esquire, and spend his days in the manor of Longhedge, where he ensures the safety of the Earl's land, unless he is at court, to attend his lordship.
After the Lord died, he realized that someone had to preserve the morals of the Court, which he placed on himself. He is now the oldest knight of Sarum, a position that has forced him to become an example for the younger knights.
He died after the Siege of Durnovaria to an infected wound.
Known for: Sword, Lance, Just, Merciful, Prudent
