Draconin Ascendence

Ascendence is the single greatest feature among the draconin, the pinnacle of physical beauty, and strength. It only can occur if a draconin reaches his or her peak in divine, or sorcerous power. Their power must get to the point where their physical body cannot contain it in its current form. Their body can compensate by sprouting wings. They do this through a violent outburst of divine, or arcane magic. The magic instantly forms bones, skin, and scales under the skin, and scales of their backs. Then, they tear their way through the skin, causing what is described as the single most painful event a draconin can experience. It is also described as the single greatest thing a draconin can gain, as it grants the ability to fly right from the moment they finish growing. The wings allow the draconin body to hold more power, giving them even greater potential.
Very few ascendent draconin have ever existed. In the thousand years since the exodus between worlds, there have only been five instances of a draconin becoming ascendent. The greatest three of these five, (in chronological order) are Xanar Fortaus the first Pillar Warrior, Etaria Haedros, a later leader of the Pillar Warriors, and Sprizen Akkamara, Sorcerer Supreme to Doh'garus, and the single most powerful being to walk Eternity's physical plane. Every single ascendent draconin has left a lasting mark on history, be it for their beauty among draconin, or their might among the mighty.

Manifestation

The process of becoming ascendent is often accompanied by violent outburst of the source of their power. Templars, or priests becoming ascendent is often displayed with a golden light as bright as the sun, with the voice of their divine patron telling them, "Rise, and become greater." Sorcerers becoming ascendent are displayed with a multicolored stream of arcane magic that seems to pull their wings from their back, and spreads them wide. Arcane ascendent wings are often first formed engulfed in fire. This fire doesn't burn the draconin, but does put off significant heat, enough to cause third degree burns on any who come in contact with the flame. The flame dissipates after a few minutes. Regardless of the source, the process is a very rapid one. The longest period of transformation was that of Eteria Haedros, who's becoming ascendent took only five seconds, though the arcane display lingered for two hours.
