Sairoia (say-roy-a)
The capital of Fafnia, and home of the First, Second, and Third Pillars of Fafnia's Pillar Warriors. Here, the most powerful arcane being makes her home: one of the last two dragons, Matrias. King Oncuth Toskan governs his people under the guidance of Matrias. King Oncuth's palace is the third largest in all of Eternity, right next to the palaces of the two dragons.
Demographics
The population is relatively evenly distributed throughout the city, being slightly denser to the south. Since the city is at the base of the Dragon Peaks, and minerals are plentiful, mining, and smithing are popular career choices among the populace. The metal that is mined, and smithed, is a material unique to the southern landmass called Scalestone. All wealth of Fafnia comes through here, making it a place of wealth among citizens.
Government
This is the capital of Fafnia. As such, Fafnia's king, Oncuth Toskan makes his home here, and governs its people.
Defences
The city is protected by walls, with balistas mounted on every tower. The bridge feeding into the city can be lowered in mere moments should an attack be on the horizon.
Industry & Trade
Three industries drive the local economy, and contribute to the national economy. Mining is the biggest industry. Scalestone is to Fafnia almost what theosite is to Midor, just not nearly to the same extent. Smithing is done here primarily with scalestone. Draconic scalestone smithing has just as many practical applications as theorium, and it is cheeper, making it almost as high in demand as theosite. Livestock is the third of the three major industries of Sairoia. Draconin are carnivorous, making the need for livestock higher than in other nations. This fact makes ranching a very lucrative business.
Infrastructure
Sairoia has roads connecting it directly to every city, town, and village in all of Fafnia. Several Telimagic orbs are placed throughout the city, making external communication easy.
Districts
The capital district in the southern end of the city, overlooks the rest with its massive temple in which Fafnia's king resides. The central area is the business district, where most commerce, and trade occurs. Most smiths have their forges here. To the north is the farming district. Since draconin are largely carnivorous, these "farms" are more like ranches as they mostly raise livestock for both industrial purposes, and food. There is a small area technically outside city limits that most include in the description of the city. It is in the north, further than the farming district that is used mostly for mining, and processing.
Assets
All of Fafnia's wealth is locked in a massive vault the size of a small village under the king's palace. The Pillar Warriors make their home in this great city, and most of Fafnia's military stores their weapons, armor, and magic items in this city's armories.
History
This city wasn't always the capital of Fafnia, but rather the city Driah (Now called Akkara, capital of Doh'garus) was Fafnia's first capital. Sairoia simply took the role of Fafnia's capital after the Fafnian civil war. It has been the home to many heroes, and historical figures over the years. The Pillar Warriors were forged here, and the Eternals once had a presence here.
Points of interest
The king's palace in the southern end of the city is the third largest in Eternity. (Following the dragons' temples) It is the only city along the Dragon Peaks in all of Fafnia.
Architecture
The draconin are prideful of the fact that they came from dragons, and display it in all things. From dragon-shaped pillars in their larger structures, to dragon statues replacing gargoyles, and statues of dragons in any open areas of the city. The king's palace, has the largest dragon statue in all of Eternity resting on its structure.
Geography
The city lies less than a mile away from the base of Dragon Peaks, giving the people one of the best views of the peaks that can be seen.
Climate
It is a relatively warm place, making it ideal for raising, and breeding Zaerta, and for draconin to make their homes here.
Natural Resources
Scalestone is the greatest, and most common of the natural resources in, and near Sairoia.
