Personal history

Sojern's mother died in childbirth, and his father committed suicide very shortly after, leaving him in the hands of his mother's brother, Eitr. Once Sojern was old enough, Eitr taught him how to wield the arcane magic of this new world. Sojern learned quickly. Not long after he turned one hundred eleven, (Late teens in brimbarian years) he met a brimbarian girl named Ayda Keltris. She had an unrivaled curiosity, and fascination for the magic that Sojern could use. The two became close friends. Some say they were even closer than that.   One day, Eitr approached Sojern with a promise that seemed too good to be true. Eitr said that he could bring back Sojern's mother. When Sojern asked how this was possible, Eitr told his nephew that he needs not worry how it's possible, just that it is. This got Sojern thinking. The first thing he had learned about arcane magic, is that no matter what you ask of it, it will demand something in return. One needs physical, natural components to get an equivalent result. What would be the price life returned to the dead? Sojern was unsure if he would be forced to take action against this if the price was too steep. Sure, he wanted more than anything else to see his mother for the first time, but not at the risk of others. While getting ready to attend the ritual, he brought with him a Sun Stone in case his fears were accurate.   The moon was at the peak of its south, to north orbit. Sojern, and Eitr were gathered around the gave that held Sojern's mother. Eitr dug the grave open, and began the ritual. Dark green, flaming magic surrounded him, and Eitr, and was pouring into the grave as his uncle was muttering in a language not spoken on Eternity. Beneath Sojern's feet, the ground cracked, and slowly drifted apart. The entire world shook. Sojern's fears were proved correct. This magic demanded too much. He pulled out the sun stone he had grabbed from home, and used its magic to stop the ritual. The cracks in the ground closed, and the world stopped shaking. Eitr turned to his nephew with confusion, and fury in his eyes. "I THOUGHT YOU WANTED THIS!!!" He shouted. "I do, but not at the cost of everyone else!" Sojern replied. Even more confused, Eitr told Sojern that it will not cost any life. Sojern realized, whatever foul force his uncle had struck a deal with had deceived him. Eitr raised several fallen brimbarians. Sojern was confused. Why didn't raising these things destroy Eternity. Eitr explained that it's far easier to rise the dead as automatons than as they were in life. These things have no soul.   Sojern ran, and the dead followed him. He lost them in the dark night, and the twists and turns of his home city. That night, Sojern knew, he must leave. He gathered what few magical components he could, and left. As he was about to exit the city, he came face-to-face once more with Ayda. She asked why he was leaving. Sojern told her what had happened, and that he must leave, and become a greater wizard than he was if he were to prevent the ritual from happening again. Ayda volunteered to join, saying she was good with a sword, and that Sojern would need the aid. Reluctantly, Sojern accepted. Their journey took them all across Eternity. They met allies, and foes alike. Eitr's undead minions followed him wherever he went, and many times, he fought them.   An entire year had passed, until the same night when his uncle's first attempt to resurrect his sister had failed. He, and Ayda confronted his uncle together. Sojern tried to convince his uncle that he was being deceived, but he wouldn't listen, and ultimately attacked Sojern. The magic his uncle used was not arcane, but something else entirely. Sojern defended himself. Their display of arcane might lit the entire town as bright as day. Stray blasts, and deflected spells would cause massive amounts of destruction. During this battle, Ayda kept Eitr's undead hoards away from Sojern. A blast from Sojern, deflected by Eitr, hit Ayda, killing her instantly. In Sojern's outrage, he killed his uncle. In the moments after, he saw the destruction he had caused.   For the rest of his life, he was viewed with mixed feelings. Sure, he ultimately saved Eternity, but in the process, his battle against his uncle leveled an entire city. In his adult life, he could not shake the grief of losing Ayda. Not only losing her, but having cast the spell that had killed her. He would continue to study arcane magic so hopefully, he could discover ways to prevent the same thing happening to others. Very rarely was he able to make his discoveries known. People still viewed him as more of a danger than anything. These views lasted until his final day, during the first orc conquest. He sacrificed himself to save his unit, healing his public view, and earning him a much less incriminating view in the halls of history.

Sexuality

He only ever had one love. She was taken from him by his uncle Eitr in their deciding battle.

Education
