the Golden King
The Golden King is a magical statue that is over three millennia old. He once protected the City of Atlantis, wielding the King's Warrior Shield and defending the city from the evil Dark Guardians. However, the Dark Guardians stole the five glowing gems from his trident, taking away the Golden King's power and locking him in Atlantis's dungeon.
After the Deep Sea Salvage Crew is captured by the Dark Guardians, they are locked up with the Golden King in the dungeon. The Golden King explains his predicament, and Captain Ace Speedman is able to remotely send the Artimus Mini-Sub to the surface with Professor Samantha Rhodes's Journal. This leads into the Quest for the Golden King online game, where players explore Atlantis and recover the five gems. Upon completion, the Golden King's power is restored, allowing him and the Atlantis crew to break free and defeat the Dark Guardians. The Golden King carves a monument in honor of the player's bravery.
In Earth's Greatest Threat!, despite the Atlantis team's efforts, the Golden King is abducted by the Alien Mothership and mind-controlled by a Pluuvian Brain-Beast. It is revealed from an Alien Android's memories that the Planet X2½ aliens have attempted to invade Earth previously, having apparently collaborated with Manta Warriors against the Golden King. In the present day, the brainwashed Golden King teams up with the Alien Commander and Amset-Ra to attack the city with their combined technology, which is thwarted by the Alien Defense Unit.
